ENHANCED STAGE - JUDGE GAIL VOYLE - GUN OIL INTERIOR SEARCH Definition of interior – any area/areas inside where doors can be closed ❖ Up to 5 hides (known number) ❖ 10 minute search time ❖ Distractions (Maximum of 3) – Carriers/blanks/non-food items ❖ Height of hides will be roughly full stretch of smallest dogs nose height. ❖ Odours may be inaccessible due to containment e.g., in a cupboard ❖ One false call permissible ❖ Dogs can be rewarded in the search area EXTERIOR SEARCH Definition of exterior – any outside area/areas/perimeters/open or closed vehicles ❖ Up to 5 hides (known number) ❖ 10 min search time ❖ Distractions (Maximum of 3) - Carriers/blanks/non-food items ❖ Height of hides will be roughly full stretch of the smallest dogs nose height. ❖ Odours may be inaccessible due to containment e.g., in a cupboard ❖ Included vehicles may be anything from cars to combine harvesters. ❖ Boot areas or edge of boot area may be accessible to search/trailer may be open to search, car doors may be open for dogs to search the openings. ❖ Distractions – Carriers/blanks/non-food items ❖ One false call permissible ❖ Dogs can be rewarded in the search area SELECTION TEST Definition of items - tubs/boxes/shoes/plant pots/pipes/scent boxes/a combination of items ❖ 20 items ❖ 3 hides ❖ Dogs must be worked on a line ❖ Teams are not permitted to revisit items ❖ 3 minute search time ❖ Distractions (Maximum of 3) – Carriers/blanks/non-food items ❖ One false call permissible ❖ Dogs can be rewarded in the search area ❖ Items may be laid out in any pattern so long as it is clear to the judge which items have been searched NOTE – Your Trial Official may require you to work some or all the searches on a line. This may vary from venue to venue.
